Terche, is the Portes
du Soleil ski station of St Jean d’Aulps
The ski station is a traditional
Savoyard village,
being a mixture of old farm buildings and tastefully designed apartment
blocks set in a beautiful backdrop of mountains and stunning scenery
With one road running
through the village the village is a perfect base for families, children
are able to roam in safety enjoying the surroundings
La Grande Terche has been a venue for the
French National Ski Championships and offers 34km of varied skiing served
by 16 lifts. At 1,000 metres, the telecabine in the Village Square takes
you up to the ski station at 1,515 metres. Rising to 1,800 metres, there
are excellent facilities for all levels of skier and snow boarder,
including good restaurants. Snow canons make it possible to ski back to
the village or the apartment at the end of the day. Alternatively, the Roc
d'Enfer circuit of 20kms offers a different route home through tree-lined
valleys and the ski station of Bellevaux.
La Grande Terche has 3 restaurants, which offer a choice of local and not
so local cuisine, ski-hire shops, super- market and an ESF ski school
The
French, English speaking ESF ski and snow board instructors are
based in the village The ESF operates a full programme of Ski/Snowboarding
School for all age groups - individual lessons or private groups
Confidence and investment in
the resort has been demonstrated by the installation of 7 snow
canons and 26 pole canons which ensures skiing all season
and the descent to the
village
During the spring and summer months there is a wide variety of Flora
and Fauna. You can choose a variety of activities for all ages, walking, horse riding,
mountain biking, parapenting, fishing, play
golf or tennis .The
telecabine is open Wednesdays and Sundays for you to explore the ski
slopes in their glory of summer colours and take advantage of the many
walks and bike trails in the area
In Morzine you can make use of the Parc des Sports and
enjoy the Olympic size outdoor swimming pool and ice skating at Le Palais
de Sport. Visit the spectacular lake at Montriond surrounded by snow
topped mountains with its lakeside restaurants, walks and bathing areas.
Visit the disused Gold Mines and run with the goats at Les Lindarets.
Alternatively Annecy, Evian,
Yvoire, Chamonix and Geneva, only just an hours drive
away
The Italian lakes are just 4
hours way and 7 hours will take you to Tuscany or St Tropez
